Grants for citizen participation projects in the municipality of València — 2026.

The project, entitled ‘Sembrando participación: Conocimiento colectivo sobre huertos urbanos en el barrio de Mestalla’, received €2,531.70 in funding from València City Council.

The initiative encouraged residents of the Mestalla neighbourhood to take part in discussions about urban gardens and sustainability. It combined digital tools with community-based activities to make participation open and inclusive.

As part of the project, the Association carried out the following activities:

Spanish-language survey leaflet about urban gardens and sustainability

Participatory process

We ran a public survey to understand people’s views and interests regarding sustainability, urban gardens, growing food at home and other practices that can make neighbourhoods more sustainable. To bring the initiative closer to local residents, we ran an online and neighbourhood outreach campaign in Mestalla, including information leaflets with a QR code linking to the survey.

Information resources

Using the results of the participatory process, we produced free information resources on urban gardens and sustainability, with practical content on topics such as growing in small spaces. Sembrando participación therefore turns residents’ views into useful resources while encouraging community participation, environmental awareness and small everyday habits that help make neighbourhoods more sustainable.
