Cultivating Opportunities
Urban agriculture as a tool for autonomy, learning and inclusion.
Grants for activities that promote equality between women and men and/or combat gender-based violence in the province of Valencia – 2024.
This project received funding of 3.662,34€ from the Provincial Council of Valencia. File reference: 15210/24/BSO.
The Association launched “Cultivating opportunities: empowering women through urban agriculture”. The project seeks to empower women in the province of Valencia, particularly those at risk of or experiencing exclusion, through agricultural production, whether as a career opportunity or as a way to grow vegetables for their own consumption.
Guide: First steps in urban gardening
A guide was produced for women with no previous knowledge or experience of urban gardening. It presents different options according to the space available: a plot of land, a large terrace, a balcony, a window or even an indoor space.
This material was shared with women’s associations and groups across the province of Valencia.
Support for women’s associations
The project also supported women’s associations interested in learning more about urban gardening, helping their members take their first steps.
To support them, the Association provided targeted advice and talks on establishing and caring for an urban garden.
